What is the Leadership Academy?

Osceola and South Mississippi county have prospered over the years thanks to a strong tradition of community and civic leadership. For this to continue into the future, new leaders must be identified and prepared to provide community leadership in the years to come. The purpose of the Leadership Academy is to seek, identify, educate, and motivate potential leaders to become involved in the future of their community. The Leadership Academy is administered by our Education Committee

Who should be involved?

The Osceola/SMC Chamber seeks to recruit emerging leaders representing all segments of the community for participation in the Leadership Academy. The most important factor in selection is identifying those individuals with a sincere interest in serving and those that are the most apt to utilize their leadership skills for the benefit of the community.

What can participants expect?

There will be five full-day sessions in the fall/winter, and a Little Rock visit in early spring. Each session will be interactive, hands-on, and designed to equip participants with the tools that will better prepare them for leadership opportunities within the community as well as their organization or company. All participants chosen are expected to attend the scheduled meetings of the program, as well as required to attend at least one of the following meetings: City Council (any South Mississippi County community), Quorum Court, School Board (Manila, Osceola, Rivercrest, or The Delta School). As well as one four hour community service project in there home town.

What is the cost?

We strive to keep the Leadership Academy rich in content yet still accessible. The tuition fee is $400 per participant and includes meals and snacks including the member lunch in which participants are recognized, all program materials, transportation & meal during the Little Rock visit planned for early 2025. A discounted tuition per participant is available if you wish to enroll three or more employees. For more information, contact the Chamber office.
